On June 2, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted its annual “In the Joy of Others: Walk-Run” in Tampa, FL, to support The Children’s Dream Fund. This event united local community members to walk together and engage in selfless service, raising funds for children in the Tampa Bay area with life-threatening illnesses.
Over 750 participants, including Florida State Representative Fentrice Driskell, Mayor of Temple Terrace Andy Ross, Tampa City Councilman Luis Viera (District 7), and Tampa City Councilman Guido Maniscalco (District 2), joined the effort to support The Children’s Dream Fund. The event featured diverse participants, from youth to seniors, all united for a common cause.
Emily Walsh of The Children’s Dream Fund highlighted the event’s significance, stating, “Anything a child can dream up, we make it happen, and that is due to supporters like you who help the Children’s Dream Fund.”
State Representative Fentrice Driskell remarked on the Walk’s importance to the Tampa community: “For nearly 25 years, this event has brought our community together for a cause greater than ourselves. BAPS Charities is known for its humanitarian efforts worldwide, including disaster relief during Hurricane Katrina and extensive support during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
After witnessing the BAPS Charities community, Mayor Andy Ross expressed his feelings, stating, “This is like the soul of the community… Without a soul, you don’t truly have a community, and these types of events show the world who we are.”
The event not only encouraged participants to lead a healthier lifestyle but also served as a reminder of the profound impact collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.
