Beginning mid-October, a series of wildfires swept throughout Napa, Lake, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Butte counties spreading fast due to raging winds, effectively leading to a major red flag warning for much of the northern California area. Shortly after the fires ignited they rapidly grew into massive conflagrations spanning from 1,000 to well over 20,000 acres within a single day. The fires have also destroyed an estimated 3,500+ structures and killed at least 40 people, with over 400 people still missing. Having burned over 170,000 acres of land, and forcing over 20,000 people to evacuate, firefighters are working to contain over 21 fires.
BAPS Charities and its volunteers are working with officials and first responders to provide assistance.
