On July 24, 2016, BAPS Charities hosted a health awareness lecture in Robbinsville, NJ centered on the benefits and importance of vitamins and minerals. Technology has come a long way in advancing medicine and helping mitigate health issues, but fundamentally, the inherent health benefits of certain foods containing basic vitamins and minerals have been difficult to replicate.
At this lecture, Dr. Rupa Panchal, addressed the importance of incorporating vitamins and minerals into one’s diet and stated how easily this could be done through some basic informative research. The presentation educated the audience on the difference between fat-soluble (Vitamin A, D, E, and K) and water-soluble vitamins (Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, and C), while sharing not only the advantages of each but also the list of foods which contain them. The lecture also covered the importance of consuming minerals like calcium, to prevent osteoporosis, and iron, to prevent anemia. The audience was empowered to take charge of their health by incorporating a variety of foods in their diet to intake sufficient vitamins and minerals.
BAPS Charities conducts quarterly health lectures for women to spread awareness on critical health issues that can be addressed by making a few minor changes in one’s routine. These initiatives help promote healthy living for both the mind and the body.
