BAPS Charities supports Robbinsville High School’s FIRST Robotics Team – Nemesis

Founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen,  ‘FIRST’  means For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Often students view science and math careers as “geeky” and not exciting.  Kamen created FIRST “to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.”  This is accomplished through mentor-based programs including the FIRST Robotics Competition  (FRC) that teach young people science and technology skills as well as many life skills including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Nemesis is the FIRST Robotics team of Robbinsville High School. BAPS Charities donated $5000 to this team of talented students to foster their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Recently Nemesis won the  Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship where fifty of the best and the brightest from New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania competed. At the awards ceremony, Nemesis was presented with the Excellence in Engineering Award, recognizing the team for its elegant and innovative intake for the swift retrieval of Frisbees. The victory advances the team to the world championships in St. Louis.
