Despite the United States’ economic prosperity, nearly 50 million Americans go hungry every day, which includes 33.3 million adults and 15.8 million children. National statistics estimate that 1 in 6 Americans cannot afford to place a meal on their table on a daily basis. Children in the US are even more vulnerable.
BAPS Charities held its annual food drive in Raleigh, NC benefiting the victims of Hurricane Florence on October 7, 2018, in an effort to support the cause of fighting hunger as part of the larger community. Volunteers of all age along with community participants collectively donated over 200 canned and dried food items. Similar food drives have been organized across North America by BAPS Charities to assist local and nearby families during the holiday season.
