Following the severe rain that flooded Chennai and surrounding areas, BAPS Charities continues to respond to the immediate needs of those in severely impacted areas. On Dec 12, 2015, over 60 volunteers operating six vans travelled to 17 villages along East Coast Road, Mahabalipuram, to distribute food kits containing rice, grains, and oil. Since the initial response, BAPS Charities has distributed an additional 3,470 kits and 200 blankets to remote communities. Volunteers are providing assistance on foot, door-to-door, in areas where roads and travel infrastructure have been damaged by the heavy rains.
