From April 25 through May 7, 2020, BAPS Charities delivered over 1,350 hot vegetarian meals and donated over 1,700 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), including surgical masks and face shields, to healthcare providers and public safety officers across the greater Los Angeles area. The meals were provided in collaboration with BAPS Shayona, a food services affiliate of BAPS Charities.
Tina Lowe, Director of Rehabilitation Services at Dignity Health California Hospital and Medical Center shared her gratitude. “The meals donated from BAPS Charities encouraged our staff and made a significant impact on our day. It is so encouraging to not have to think through one more detail of organizing lunch. Knowing that the community is supporting healthcare workers in this way means so much to all of us. Thank you for your generosity and reminding us that we are all in this together.”
Barbara Murphy, Chief Nursing Executive for Kaiser Ontario Medical Center was amazed by the gesture. “My sincerest gratitude for your thoughtfulness in providing hot meals honoring the staff at Kaiser Ontario Medical Center. Your generosity is truly appreciated and on behalf of the nursing team & all support staff – we thank you!”
In addition to frontline healthcare workers, BAPS Charities has provided support to essential public safety and emergency services workers who are working around the clock to ensure the safety and health of the area’s residents.
