The escalating costs of essentials such as food, fuel, accommodation, and transportation have placed a significant burden on many individuals and families. This has particularly hit the unhoused and under-resourced community in the Southern California area. Regrettably, many find themselves in the distressing situation of having insufficient funds to provide for even the most basic necessities — food and hygiene products.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, BAPS Charities volunteers in Los Angeles channeled their spirit of service and organized a food and care kit drive.
Serving the greater San Bernardino County area of the Los Angeles region, BAPS Charities donated over 400 pounds of pantry staples like canned goods, cereals, and biscuits, and 250 hygiene care kits with travel-size shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand warmers, hydration powder, nail clippers and wipes to Heart2Serve in Chino Hills, CA.
Chino Hills Mayor Cynthia Moran (@councilchick) connected BAPS Charities to Heart2Serve and joined us for the donation. “Today, BAPS Charities is supporting our Chino Hills community yet again, through a donation to Heart2Serve. I’m so excited that Heart2Serve was able to receive much-needed items for their residents. Thank you BAPS Charities for your continued collaboration across the region.”
Heart2Serve was founded in 2015 by addiction survivors Brian & Cindy Baughman. They believe everyone deserves a second chance to be free from substance abuse and given the tools, skills, and care to live a reborn life. Their mission is to provide hope and support to women in transition by helping them regain a foothold and recover with the support of an organization and leadership who have walked their path and are committed to giving them what they need to live the life of freedom they’ve always wanted.
“Thank you BAPS Charities for your generous donation,” shared Brianna Cota of Heart2Serve. “These donations are especially helpful to the women we are supporting in rebuilding their lives. Together, through partnerships like these, we can make the world a better place.”
BAPS Charities continues to mobilize to serve our communities’ most vulnerable residents and remains committed to serving society and communities in diverse fields such as medical, environmental, community, educational, and humanitarian services.
