On June 16, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted its annual “In the Joy of Others: Walk-Run” in Melville, NY, benefiting the Huntington Youth Bureau Institute. This year’s walk united nearly 450 community members, including US Congressman Nick LaLota, The Town of Huntington Councilman Salvatore Ferro, The Town of Huntington Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman, Esq., and Director of The New York State Office of Faith and Non-Profit Development Services Caura Washington, joined the effort to support the Huntington Youth Bureau Institute and their mission to promote the growth, development, and well-being of youth in the Town of Huntington through programs and services that are responsive to the needs of youth, their families, and the community. The event showcased a broad spectrum of participation, from youth to seniors, united for a common cause.
Janine Salgado, LCSW-R, Executive Director of the Town of Huntington Youth Bureau, reflected on the event’s significance, saying, “Taking care of our youth secures our future.”
Speaking on the occasion, US Congressman Nick LaLota said, “Service above self and taking care of our community is essential for our community to thrive.”
Councilman of the Town of Huntington Salvatore Ferro, who walked with participants, expressed gratitude in his address to the walkers and thanked them on behalf of the local beneficiary.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to engage in a healthier lifestyle and reminded them of the profound impact collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.
