Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness and, at times, can lead to death. According to a CDC study, between 3 percent (9.93 million) and 11 percent (36.41 million) of the U.S. population gets infected and develops flu symptoms yearly.
Vaccination is the most effective way to avoid the flu; hence, BAPS Charities organized a Flu Vaccination Drive in Long Island, NY, on October 12, 2024, benefiting Long Island community members. The Drive was organized with the help of Northwell Health. The participants learned about how to prevent influenza, and 100 participants, including seniors, received influenza vaccinations.
