BAPS Charities held its annual blood donation drive in Indianapolis, IN on June 14, 2015 coordinating efforts with Indiana Blood Center. Over 34 participants took part in the event donating over 22 pints of blood which can help save as many as 66 lives.
According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the US needs blood and more than 41,000 blood donations are needed everyday. Considering these statistics, medical facilities struggle to maintain the required blood supply on hand to treat everything from emergencies to long-term cancer treatment. While there are many who regularly donate blood, reaching out to many other viable donors is necessary to fulfill this critical quota. To help meet this need and continue its decades long support in this area, BAPS Charities organizes annual blood donation drives across the nation to collect blood and raise awareness in the community.
