Shortly after midnight on Christmas, a major water main break in Edison, New Jersey, triggered a widespread water shortage that left thousands of residents with little to no access to clean drinking water. As local authorities worked to resolve the issue, the community faced an immediate need for one of life’s most basic necessities — water.
In response to the crisis, BAPS Charities swiftly mobilized volunteers who distributed over 12,500 bottles of water, providing timely and essential relief. Many residents who had been without water for hours expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support.
During this time, Hands of Hope, a local humanitarian organization, also collected water bottles from BAPS Charities and generously distributed them at homeless shelters in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. This collaborative effort ensured that even the most vulnerable members of society had access to clean drinking water during the emergency.
This initiative reflects BAPS Charities’ continued commitment to serving communities in times of need, upholding the values of compassion, volunteerism, and selfless service. By responding swiftly and thoughtfully to the Edison water shortage, BAPS Charities reaffirmed its dedication to supporting local residents through meaningful, on-the-ground action.
