Influenza (“flu”) is a contagious disease, caused by the influenza virus, which can be spread by coughing, sneezing, or nasal secretions. CDC estimates that about 8% of the U.S. population gets sick from flu each season, with a range of between 3% and 11%, depending on the season. Complicating the issue is that many of the symptoms of influenza are like COVID-19 and can remain asymptomatic for a while. To mitigate this deadly confluence, BAPS Charities launched an immunization campaign, while maintaining public safety and the use of PPE, and strict social distancing policy.
As part of this campaign, BAPS Charities organized a Flu Vaccine drive in Dallas, TX on October 23, 2021, benefitting over 75 participants.
