To help raise awareness regarding perimenopause and menopause, BAPS Charities organized a health awareness lecture for women in Cleveland, Ohio on February 9, 2020.
The health awareness lecture, presented by Dr. Tanya Banerjee focused on recognizing the critical difference between perimenopause and menopause. The talk detailed how to recognize signs and symptoms of perimenopause and menopause and the prevalence of these symptoms for most women. The presenter also reviewed common misconceptions and stigma related to the symptoms of menopause. As this transition in life can put women at an increased risk for certain conditions such as osteoporosis or depression, the importance of awareness was also emphasized during the lecture. The audience members learned several methods to manage common symptoms associated with menopause and when to seek a physician when these symptoms are no longer manageable.
