According to the American Heart Association and other health organizations, cholesterol plays a crucial role in heart health, with high levels being linked to cardiovascular disease. BAPS Charities organized a health awareness lecture on cholesterol in Chicago, IL on December 22, 2024, as part of its ongoing effort to educate the community on vital health topics. The lecture, led by Dr. Ashish Patel, explored the different types of cholesterol—good (HDL) and bad (LDL)—and emphasized the importance of managing cholesterol levels through a healthy lifestyle, including diet and exercise.
Attendees were given clear information on the role cholesterol plays in the body, the risks associated with high LDL cholesterol, and tips for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. The session also addressed common misconceptions about cholesterol and statins, a medication commonly prescribed to manage cholesterol levels.
The health lecture is part of BAPS Charities’ effort to enhance health education within the community, providing people with the knowledge they need to live healthier lives.
