On June 8, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted its annual ‘In the Joy of Others: Walk-Run’ in Boston, MA, benefiting the Tyngsborough Police Department. The event united nearly 800 community members to raise awareness and support the Tyngsborough Police Department, which is dedicated to upholding public safety, enforcing laws, preventing crime, and responding promptly to emergencies.
This year’s walk saw participation from Richard Howe, Chief of the Tyngsboro Police Department; Chief Greg Hudon, Lowell Police Department; Representative Vanna Howard, Massachusetts State Representative (Chelmsford, Lowell); and Rita Mercier, Lowell City Councilor. Richard Howe, Chief of the Tyngsborough Police Department, reflected on the event’s significance, saying, “What an amazing group; your organization stands for selfless service, and that could not be more obvious than what’s going on that we’re seeing today. Your organization stands for something that the world needs more than ever before. In a world full of hate and divisiveness, this is a beacon of hope with positivity, selfless service, and community, and I could not be more honored to be here today. I could not be more honored that you are coming to the town of Tyngsborough, and I firmly believe that the town of Tyngsborough is a good place for you.”
Massachusetts State Representative Vanna Howard also spoke at the event, remarking, “Thank you for being here so early on this beautiful Saturday morning. By being here, you are demonstrating your commitment and dedication to serving others, and that is the true spirit of service. I am proud to announce that this year’s charity proceeds will benefit the Tyngsborough Police Department.” The event showcased a wide spectrum of participants, from youth to seniors, all rallying for a common cause. It provided an opportunity for attendees to embrace healthier lifestyles and underscored the significant impact of collective efforts in addressing local needs and challenges.
