To improve student reading proficiency, the City of Birmingham, Alabama, and Mayor Randall Woodfin piloted a program called Page Pals that collaborated with Birmingham City Schools and the community. The program’s main goal is to improve the reading proficiency of third graders both inside and outside of the classroom environment. Many youths and volunteers from BAPS Charities took part in this program, as advancing education is a core value of BAPS Charities. Over ten children were helped in the months of February and March 2024 through designed activities that reinforce reading and comprehension skills. The program has taken a short pause but will resume later this year, at which time BAPS Charities youths and volunteers will again participate in this worthy cause.
