On May 27, 2018, BAPS Charities hosted Walk Green 2018 in Augusta, GA with over 220 participants in attendance. In the true spirit of community service, this year’s walkathon once again supported The Nature Conservancy as well as Columbia County Foundation for Children.
Months of dedicated planning and fundraising by BAPS Charities’ volunteers culminated in this event for the community, by the community. Strengthening its commitment to protect the environment, BAPS Charities contributed $165,000, an equivalent of planting 130,000 trees, to The Nature Conservancy to support their initiative to plant a billion trees globally by 2025. The Nature Conservancy actively conserves the lands and waters on earth to sustain life for upcoming generations.
BAPS Charities uses these opportunities to instill a spirit of service and commitment to preservation and environmental responsibility in community members. Events such as this help instill consciousness in community members surrounding their actions, and, in turn, helps inspire global harmony with nature.
