An estimated 46 million people in the United States have arthritis or other rheumatic conditions. By the year 2020, this number is expected to reach 60 million. Rheumatic diseases are a more frequent cause of activity limitation than heart disease, cancer, or diabetes.
If individuals can take good care of their joints, it can help them live healthier, pain-free lives. With this objective in mind, BAPS Charities Health Awareness Lecture held in Atlanta, GA on February 15, 2015 provided participants with information and resources on arthritis care. Participants learned how to reduce the risk of arthritis by maintaining healthy body weight, exercising and using orthotic footwear. The lecture was presented by Dr. Dhaval Shah.
