According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. requires blood for either surgery, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, or traumatic injuries.
BAPS Charities, a constant presence and community mainstay in Albany, New York is all too familiar with these and other statistics. The fact that one donation can save up to three lives, or the fact that less than 10% of eligible donors actually make the time donate annually further inspire volunteers organizing this annual event. To do their part in organizing the community to help save lives, BAPS Charities organized a blood drive on June 15, 2019. In total, 23 pints of blood were collected, which has the potential to save up to 69 lives.
BAPS Charities’ commitment to supporting the health and wellness of others of the broader community extends beyond the blood donation drive. In addition, BAPS Charities conducts health fairs, children’s health and safety days, bone marrow drive, flu drives as well as health lectures in supporting the health and well-being of communities across the country.
