BAPS Charities organised a community indoor volleyball tournament at Kettering Conference Centre on 20 January 2024.
This was the second community volleyball competition organised by BAPS Charities in the UK, becoming increasingly popular with players eager to represent their respective towns and cities.
The event brought together over 400 participants representing more than 60 teams from across the UK for a competitive yet friendly tournament that was played with tremendous sportsmanship and a high level of skill, providing plenty of entertainment for the generous support that had gathered.
The top 30 teams progressed to the latter stages of the Sahajanand Cup. The remaining teams were placed in the Ekantik Cup tournament – enjoying an opportunity to continue playing throughout the day.
The men’s final of the Ekantik Cup brought together Leeds A and Watford D. Watford prevailed victorious amid vociferous support from the courtside crowd. The final exciting game for the prestigious Sahajanand Cup was held between South East Warriors A and Watford C. The encounter proved to be memorable – eventually won by South East Warriors.
This event extended beyond a tournament, becoming a celebration of health, fitness and the unbreakable spirit of community. It stands as a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition that resonates far beyond the volleyball court.
