Volunteers from BAPS Charities in South London collected food for the needy and homeless in December 2020 as part of its on-going commitment to serve the local community. The collection was part of a nationwide drive across 12 centres around the UK, with BAPS Charities supporting a number of local charities during this particularly difficult time.
This year’s collective effort did not include clothing due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. However, over 500 items of tinned food and other snacks were deposited at Sutton Night Watch, a local charity that supports and raises awareness for the homeless people within the London Borough of Sutton and surrounding areas.
Kishan Patel, a lead volunteer for BAPS Charities, shared, “We are delighted to be able to help the homeless community in Croydon, particularly during this cold winter weather. We hope this will help bring some warmth and comfort to those who need it the most in our area.”
Jad Adams, Chairman for Sutton Night Watch, added, “We are so pleased to receive the contribution from BAPS Charities to help the homeless people in Croydon. The food will be much appreciated by them will help them through the cold weather.”
