BAPS Charities, South London, collected food for the homeless in December 2018, as part of an on-going commitment to serve the needy in the local community.
Both children and adult volunteers collected over 450 cans of food, which in turn were distributed to three local foodbanks – Croydon Community Foodbank, Croydon Foodbank and Croydon Nightwatch.
As part of the BAPS Annual 10K Challenge, the South London centre had supported Croydon Nightwatch, who support homeless people in Croydon by providing urgent and necessary items of food, clothing, toiletries and household goods.
Kirit Wadia, a lead volunteer for BAPS Charities, shared, “It is heartbreaking to see the homeless in our community, especially in this frigid winter period. We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to make this small contribution towards bringing some warmth and comfort to those most in need.”
