BAPS Charities organised a national volleyball tournament, the ‘Ekta Cup’, for women over the age of 40. It was held simultaneously at The Swaminarayan School and BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, on Sunday 9 February 2020.
Twenty teams and over 120 participants, aged between 40 and 65, from various towns and cities across the UK joined together for this inaugural event.
Each match provided plenty of spirited entertainment as well as showcasing the immense talent and sportsmanship the women had worked so hard for. The excitement in the crowds reached fever pitch as Chigwell A competed against South London in the Ekta Cup final. After a very close match, Chigwell A took the cup home.
The Plate final saw Luton play against Brent B. Luton took away this year’s win.
The hugely successful event encouraged adults leading busy lifestyles to engage in some healthy activity and helped develop positive community relations.
