BAPS Charities organised a national volleyball tournament, the ‘Sahajanand Cup’, held simultaneously at The Swaminarayan School and BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, on Sunday 1 December 2019.
Eighteen teams and over 120 participants, aged between 40 and 65, from various towns and cities across the UK joined together for this inaugural event.
Each team played with conviction and demonstrated true sportsmanship. The excitement in the crowds reached fever pitch as Aksharderi Darbaans from Wellingborough competed against Leicester A in the Sahajanand Cup final. After a very close match, Aksharderi Darbaans took the cup home.
The Plate final saw Aksharderi Bhaktas from Wellingborough against Birmingham. Once again, Wellingborough took away this year’s win.
The hugely successful event encouraged adults leading busy lifestyles to engage in some healthy activity and helped develop positive community relations.
