BAPS Charities was invited by the local Rotary Club to support a screening and health awareness drive at Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware, London on Saturday 24 May 2014.
A similar event had been held at the same venue in 2012.
A medical screening team from BAPS Charities was joined by volunteers from the Edgware & Stanmore Rotary Club. Together they screened 91 shoppers of various ethnicities spanning an age range from the mid-20s to over-85.
The experts noted various anthropometric measurements – including blood pressure and body mass index – from which the participants were offered free medical consultation. The event helped raise awareness among the public about potential health risks and motivation to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Nana Asante, attended the event to see first-hand the service being offered in the borough. Both she and her deputy were very appreciative of the voluntary work offered by BAPS Charities for members of the local community.
Members of the Rotary Club and their president, Dr Nandini Varma, were especially grateful to BAPS Charities for providing such a professional and friendly service throughout the day, and hoped to continue the partnership to benefit more people in the community.
