BAPS Charities, Chigwell, collected winter clothing and food for the homeless in December 2019, as part of an on-going commitment to serve the needy in the local community.
A variety of warm pieces of clothing – including jumpers, jackets and trousers – as well as a large collection of tinned food was deposited at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Chigwell. This collection was then distributed to The Whitechapel Mission, a charity who have been serving the homeless in the East London area for 143 years.
Girish Patel, a lead volunteer for BAPS Charities, shared, “Being homeless brings many tough challenges but at this time of the year, it is particularly saddening. We hope that the clothes and food can provide some warmth and comfort to those without a roof over their heads or who are experiencing financial hardship.”
