The holiday season can be highly challenging for the children in families with limited resources and other stressful situations, making it difficult to celebrate. This year, BAPS Charities Los Angeles received the opportunity to partner with Los Angeles Lakers player Dwight Howard and his Grand Champions Foundation for two Toy Giveaways and Holiday Festival events in the Los Angeles area. The first event took place on December 22, 2021, at Edward Vincent Park in Inglewood, CA, and the other on December 26, 2021, at Los Angeles Preparatory Academy in East Los Angeles, CA.
During both events, dozens of partners provided food, games, toys, and other essentials for children and families. In addition, the Grand Champions Foundation resurfaced and opened basketball courts for the local youths at both locations.
BAPS Charities donated hundreds of toys, provided volunteers for the festival games and activities, and helped design the resurfaced basketball courts.
“Our partners were crucial in making the events successful,” shared Qais Haider, agent for Dwight Howard and point person for the Grand Champions Foundation. “Thank you for all of the support with toys, volunteers, and behind-the-scenes work that BAPS Charities provided. Together we brought smiles to so many children in Los Angeles.”
BAPS Charities joined with other great partners & sponsors, including Arrowhead Water, the Los Angeles Lakers, Xbox, Wilson Basketball, Mattel Toys, Baby2Baby, The Good Karma Los Angeles and so many more. Together, the collective spirit of service brought joy to thousands of Angelenos and their families in 2021.
