The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines the concept of health as a combination of physical, mental and social well-being, and not just the absence of disease or infirmity. Globally, inequalities around access to healthcare and healthy living remains a significant challenge. As access to healthcare and healthy living is a constitutional right in South Africa, it is important that efforts are made to educate South Africans on health-related subjects. As a response to local and global challenges on health education, BAPS Charities are actively involved in educational programs to expose parents and children to services and discussions that promote general good health and healthy living.
With this in mind, BAPS Charities will be hosting a Health Fair at the Mayfair Cultural Centre on Sunday, 7 February 2016 from 11am to 3pm. The event will host a wide range of presentations and will provide a complement of health professionals for consultation and free, preliminary screenings. Exhibitions relating to physical and cultural activities will be showcased throughout the duration of the fair.
This event is open to the general public at no charge. Parents and children are encouraged to attend to learn more about health-related subjects that aim to improve one’s knowledge of healthy living and general well-being. Lunch will be on sale and guests will have the opportunity to engage with health specialists present.
We look forward to welcoming you on the day.
