COVID-19 Pandemic: 5,000 Surgical Masks Donated to Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA

As countless Americans continue to practice “social distancing” to decrease the spread of the coronavirus, healthcare workers and emergency service providers are working tirelessly to treat those affected by COVID-19. To support their continued efforts, BAPS Charities donated 5,000 surgical masks to Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA on April 20, 2020.

Kimberly Hartz, Chief Executive Officer of Washington Hospital Healthcare System accepted the donation on behalf of the Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA and remarked “It is so important to ensure the safety of our patients and our staff and this donation helps a lot. We appreciate it so much. These are unprecedented times. It is difficult for everyone. And for BAPS Charities to think about us means a lot. We have wonderful people working here, but we couldn’t do it without all the community support.”

“At this time of need when we are fighting and addressing the COVID-19 virus we need all of us in the community to come together and these types of donations and thoughtfulness are what we need to address this and come up with solutions. So this [donation] is for helping us protect our healthcare workers those on the frontline as well as you guys who are members of our communities” said Fremont Mayor Lily Mei who had joined BAPS Charities volunteers during this donation and appreciated the efforts of BAPS Charities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BAPS Charities is grateful to its volunteers for helping to keep the community healthy. Beyond the recent donation, BAPS Charities has organized and implemented several online awareness campaigns for the community on how to stay healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. BAPS Charities volunteers throughout the world are assessing situations and providing support to help local communities. More details on www.bapscharities.org/covid-19/
