The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the lives of Americans all across the country. While residents in Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding communities adjust to their new and unexpected “normal”, healthcare professionals have gone above and beyond, sacrificing time with family and personal safety to care for patients. To support their incredible efforts and show appreciation, BAPS Charities donated $10,000 to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
On April 23, 2020, BAPS Charities presented the $10,000 check to the Parkland Hospital Foundation and provided hot vegetarian meals for the brave healthcare professionals and staff working around the clock in these unprecedented times. In attendance was Dr. Elba Garcia, Dallas County Commissioner for District 4 who shared, “We appreciate all the help that BAPS Charities provides here in Dallas County and all over the world. BAPS Charities has great volunteers who act in the moment when we all need each other!”
David Lopez, Chief Operating Officer at Parkland Hospital expressed his appreciation. “We here at Parkland appreciate BAPS Charities and their donation… We cannot do it all alone and working together will allow us to overcome whatever need arises. We are going to use this donation for COVID patients, providing masks, as well as other important community needs. Donations of this nature go a long way to really allow us to do just that!”
As healthcare professionals continue to support patients and volunteer organizations continue to support community members in their fight against COVID-19, BAPS Charities will continue to provide local organizations and healthcare providers support and resources to show their gratitude and highlight the importance of service and volunteerism in our local communities.
