On Sunday, 10th March 2019 BAPS Charities New Zealand, organized a Walkathon to raise funds in support of Friends of Fiji Health and Starship Foundation. This event was held at Auckland’s greenest spot – Cornwall Park.
Starship foundation is a social – profit organization that raises funds for the Starship children health hospital which enables it to deliver family centered care to the children and the young people throughout New Zealand and the south pacific.
Friends of Fiji Health (NZ) Inc. [FOFH] is a New Zealand registered charity organization that was established in July 2010. Its primary purpose is to form teams of specialists to travel to Fiji and provide medical treatment for the neediest from time to time. New Zealand based volunteers’ staff its missions and it is resourced by voluntary contributions in money or in kind. It focuses both on early clinical intervention and surgical procedures.
This year over 400 walkers joined in raising support for this two local charities. BAPS Charities volunteers and board members presented to Mr Rajesh Chaudhary (Friends of Fiji Health) and Mrs Anne Elise (Starship Foundation) with the cheque of $8000 each.
With the support of Friends of Fiji Health, the walkers were able to have their health check for blood pressure and diabetes.
BAPS Charities volunteers serve as a foundation for the future in advancing the spirit of service. Volunteers not only support events through service hours, but also invite others to learn about BAPS Charities’ five programmatic mission areas: environmental protection, health, education, youth development, and disaster relief. Working across these sectors, BAPS Charities is able to contribute to building strong and healthy communities around the globe.
