On Saturday 12th March 2016, BAPS Charities Nairobi hosted a Fun Day for the children of Dada’s Community and Education Centre located in Dagoretti , one of the suburbs in Nairobi. The event hosted 150 children in total from Dada’s School. The aim of the event was to give the children a lasting positive and fun memory of a wonderful day out. Entertainment plays a key role in a life of a child, and BAPS Charities were delighted to host and entertain the underprivileged children.
Dada’s Centre accommodates about 50 orphans and educates an additional 100 Day School children who come from extremely poor families from the nearby Dagoretti Slums.
The school caters for nursery and primary school children ranging from 3 years to 16 years of age. The Centre is run by Mr. Nitinbhai Shah who is a businessman and philanthropist.
The 150 children from Dada’s Centre, along with 15 of their teachers arrived at the BAPS Centre in the morning. The event started with breakfast for all which was followed by a tour of the onsite exhibition. Our youth volunteers played a key role in guiding the children through the exhibition and making them feel at home.
The BAPS Centre’s car park was transformed into an outdoor amusement park for all the kids to enjoy. There were several attractions to enthrall the children with Trampolines, bouncing castles, merry-go-round, popcorn and candy floss machines, face-painting and lots more.
After 2 and half hours of playing and fun, the children were served a delicious lunch. The event concluded with each child leaving with a toy and a sweater as a gift, along with books for the school library. It was an event to be remembered and cherished by all.
