BAPS Charities has been offering assistance to communities with many challenges that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as access to food.
With many businesses closed in New York and Long Island and a quarantine order in place, many families are having a hard time finding food. A local food pantry, Helping Hand Rescue Mission, is helping needy families by distributing food. In support of the food pantry, BAPS Charities donated over 100 food care packages consisting of various vegetarian snacks.
Reverend Kimberly Gaines-Gambino, the spokesperson at Helping Hand Rescue Mission, received the packages on behalf of the organization. Rev. Gaines-Gambino was very grateful and explained, “This donation will be distributed to local families in our community that needs food.” Also, in light of the strict quarantine order in place, Rev. Gaines-Gambino shared a personal message with BAPS Charities volunteers “we [are] together even though we are apart right now.”
Volunteers in BAPS Charities locations across the world continue to evaluate situations in local communities to effectively provide support.
