Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, BAPS Charities has mobilized its volunteers across the country to support the fight against the pandemic. As health systems continue to experience patient surges, BAPS Charities, in addition to monetary and medical supply donations, is supporting the frontline healthcare professionals through food resources, donating 1,764 Gatorade bottles and meal packages to area hospitals in Chicago, IL.
In recognition of their tremendous work and to provide a quick energy boost to the hard-working healthcare professionals, on April 30, 2020, BAPS Charities delivered 588 Gatorade bottles to both St. Alexius Medical Center and Alexian Brothers Medical Center, hospitals part of the AMITA Health group in Chicago. In total, 1,176 Gatorade bottles were delivered to the hospitals part of the AMITA Health group. In accepting the donation, Ms. Dia Nicholas, President and CEO of Alexian Brothers Medical Center, expressed his immense gratitude, “Relative to the lunches that you all have been providing it goes a long way by boosting morale for the staff. We thank you.”
Moreover, on May 6, 2020, BAPS Charities delivered an additional 588 Gatorade bottles to Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital (CDH). Accepting this donation, Dr. Kevin Most spoke about the impact BAPS Charities’ donation had on the hospital’s healthcare professionals, “I can tell you that when they had those meals and Gatorades, it really made them feel good because they may have been hungry at the time and didn’t have time. It allowed them to spend more time with the patient. More importantly, they know people in the community were thinking of them while they were going through these difficult times.”
BAPS Charities is grateful for the continuous and selfless efforts of all healthcare professionals during these unprecedented times, and its volunteers throughout North America stand ready to support these professionals in any way possible.
