Just as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has hit India, its neighbor to the north, Nepal, is also facing the same situation. As of May 2021, Nepal had recorded the highest COVID-19 positivity rate. Active cases of the virus have been found in all 77 districts of the country. According to the government’s response plan, the country has a shortage of intensive care beds and ventilators for its population of 30 million people. overwhelming medical care providers.
In response to a request from the Nepal Government, on June 5, 2021, BAPS Charities donated $5,000 to help procure supplies and equipment.
Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, Nepal’s Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Rishi Dhakal, Honorary Consul General Los Angeles, and a delegation was present for the donation at the event in Chino Hills, California.
Mr. Dhakal shared his gratitude. “Your donation to COVID-19 pandemic efforts in Nepal will support organizations doing work on the ground to manage logistics, medicines and supplies. Thank you, BAPS Charities, for the donation.”
Funds collected by BAPS Charities throughout the world are also being used to procure oxygen concentrators, essential equipment and approved medications to continue supporting those in need.
