As the United States copes with COVID-19, BAPS Charities has been supporting local communities and organizations on many fronts, including providing monetary contributions to noble causes.
With lockdown orders in place for several weeks in New York, many women relegated to their homes are facing increased domestic violence. To help protect women against domestic violence, BAPS Charities donated $5,000 to Sakhi for South Asian Women in New York, NY. Sakhi aids women and families affected by domestic violence and provides them sanctuary from their abusers, such as assistance with transitional housing. Kavita Mehra, Executive Director at Sakhi greatly appreciated the donation and shared, “This investment will enable us to continue providing critical, life-saving measures to survivors across New York City. We are grateful to BAPS Charities for the generosity and we look forward to working together.”
Volunteers in BAPS Charities locations across the world continue to assess local situations to effectively provide support.
