From April 15-24, BAPS Charities, in collaboration with its affiliated food services arm, BAPS Shayona, distributed thousands of hot vegetarian meals to healthcare providers and public safety offices across the greater Los Angeles area. As the United States continues to be challenged with the COVID-19 pandemic, food accessibility has become a concern, especially for the frontline personnel working long hours. Harnessing the collective spirit of its volunteers, BAPS Charities provided support by delivering over 5,000 hot meals to frontline workers at 19 organizations.
Leigh Cornell, Vice President of Administration at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center said, “[W]e would like to express our most sincere gratitude to BAPS Charities for generously donating 1,500 hot meals to our staff. These meals will keep our frontline workers nourished and healthy. We are overwhelmed with gratitude to BAPS Charities and know that we are stronger together!”
“The employees at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina are the heroes of this moment,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. “I thank BAPS Charities for providing over 400 hot meals to all hospital staff. I am pleased that Team Solis, BAPS Charities volunteers, and Emanate Health Foundation recently came together to distribute nutritious sustenance to the hard-working staff at Queen of the Valley Hospital.”
In addition to hot vegetarian meals, BAPS Charities distributed more than 2,500 prepackaged snacks and bottled beverages. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California received 1,500 of those snacks and beverages.
David Clark, Executive Director at Arrowhead noted, “I want to personally thank you for the generous donation of Starbucks Frappuccinos, Gatorade, Lance Sandwich Crackers, Belvita snacks and Nature’s Garden Trail Mix snacks. Your thoughtful gesture boosts the morale of members of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s community of caregivers and support staff. Please know how thankful I am to partner with BAPS Charities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Together, we’ll help those at the medical center feel a little love with a sip of a coffee drink and some crackers and snacks.”
