On July 7, 2024, BAPS Charities held its annual “In The Joy Of Others: Walk-Run” in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event supported the vital efforts of two national organizations, the William Osler Health System Foundation and the CNIB Foundation, along with a local beneficiary, the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
The walk attracted over 300 participants from the community, including Terry Duguid, Member of Parliament; Billie Cross, Member of the Legislative Assembly; Councilor Janice Lukes, City of Winnipeg; Sharmon Luchuck, Communication & Public Relations Manager at Victoria Hospital Foundation; and Brett Lawrence, Community Development Manager at Canadian Blood Services. This diverse group, ranging from youth to seniors, came together to raise funds and awareness for health initiatives and other charitable activities under the auspices of BAPS Charities.
The William Osler Health System, one of the largest community healthcare systems in Canada, includes Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
The CNIB Foundation, previously known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative programs and advocacy for those affected by blindness.
The Victoria Hospital Foundation focuses on enhancing patient care and improving community health by supporting healthcare innovations at Victoria Hospital and engaging various stakeholders in its mission.
This event not only promoted healthier lifestyles but also underscored the significant impact of collective action in meeting local healthcare needs and challenges.
