On October 19, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted the Youth Education Seminar, an inspiring event dedicated to empowering youth and their families with tools, knowledge, and values to navigate their educational and career journeys.
This year’s seminar welcomed over 200 high school and university students, parents, and mentors from across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. The event centered on three pivotal themes: Financial Literacy, Career Development, and Networking Opportunities.
Participants engaged in a variety of dynamic sessions, including a professional panel discussion, a mentorship networking event, and breakout sessions tailored for students and parents.
For youth, the seminar offered insights into career pathways, effective study habits, and inspiring real-life success stories, all while emphasizing the importance of balancing academic and family commitments. Parents, meanwhile, gained valuable tools to support their children’s education and career growth, with focused discussions on financing education and fostering a well-rounded upbringing.
Key highlights included:
- Careers and Finances Panel: Industry professionals shared experiences in fields such as engineering, healthcare, and business, providing practical advice on financial aid and career planning.
- Networking Sessions: Youths connected with experienced mentors from their fields of interest and received personalized guidance and encouragement.
- Parent Sessions: Interactive discussions addressed managing the challenges of financing higher education and supporting children through their academic and career journeys.
The seminar emphasized the importance of leveraging the community for mutual support and guidance.
The event concluded with a networking lunch for all participants and presenters.
Both parents and youth left inspired and equipped with actionable strategies to achieve their goals while nurturing strong connections.
This event reflects BAPS Charities’ ongoing commitment to empowering families and youth by providing opportunities for growth, learning, and meaningful connections.
