In The Joy of Others: Walk-Run 2024 in Toronto, ON

On September 8, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted its annual “In The Joy Of Others: Walk-Run” in Toronto, Ontario, benefiting the life-saving work of two National Beneficiaries: the William Osler Health System Foundation and the CNIB Foundation.

This year’s walk united over 2,000 participants from the community, including:
– Hon. Nina Tangri, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Small Business and MPP for Mississauga-Streetsville
– Her Worship Oliva Chow, Mayor of the City of Toronto
– Councillor Vincent Crisanti, City of Toronto
– Olga Korpalo, William Osler Health System Foundation
– Javed Mohammed, CNIB Foundation

Her Worship Oliva Chow, Mayor of the City of Toronto said, “It is true that when we give joy to others, we give it to ourselves… It is why we are here. This is not the first year. For 50 years BAPS have been making a difference. That is the spirit of public service. Thank you for your example and thank you for your contribution.”

The William Osler Health System is one of the largest community health care systems in the country, comprising of three integrated hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.

The CNIB Foundation, formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a non-profit organization that delivers innovative programs and advocacy for people impacted by blindness.

Yogesh Patel, President of BAPS Charities Canada said, “The real champions of this event are the many volunteers, fund-raisers, participants and supporters. Similar BAPS Charities Walks have taken place in 13 cities with thousands of participants across Canada this summer supporting local and national beneficiaries.”

The event provided an opportunity for participants to promote and engage in a healthier lifestyle while reminding them of the profound impact collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.
