The City of Toronto Council recently declared Toronto a Cardiac Safe City stating, “The City of Toronto Council endorses the concept of Toronto becoming a Cardiac Safe City, actively encouraging public involvement in the provision of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and wherever possible, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)”.
Supporting this vision, BAPS Charities in Toronto, Canada organized a training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) on April 5, 2014. The training provided information and live demonstration on how to provide immediate emergency care in cardiac, breathing and first aid situations in the critical moments before paramedics arrive on the scene.
Eliot Shimkofsky, a 25 year Emergency Medical Responder and AED / CPR Trainer with the Canadian Red Cross, was pleased at the willingness and enthusiasm of the BAPS Charities volunteers to learn and give back to the community.
