The COVID-19 pandemic has been a difficult time for all. For younger generations, many are adjusting to online school and work, and are also trying to find new ways to socialize and network. During these challenging times, BAPS Charities has continued to support youth by hosting leaders from various backgrounds to speak on relevant topics through a series of virtual events and webinars. These interactive sessions provide a unique platform for today’s youth to socialize, connect, network and ask questions to prominent figures in their respective field.
On January 23, 2020, BAPS Charities hosted one such webinar with Mr. Sergio Scariolo, Assistant Coach for the Toronto Raptors and the Head Coach of the Spanish Olympic National Basketball Team. With over 30 years of coaching experience, the youth were extremely excited to learn from Coach Scariolo’s journey to success.
During the question-answer session Coach Scariolo gave great insight on goal setting and developing good work ethics. He stressed the importance of learning from your mistakes and being open to constructive criticism as a means to develop your skills. Speaking from his experience, Coach Scariolo talked about developing the ability to listen to others’ ideas and learning from them. In the end, he stressed the importance of paying it forward and helping others in times of need.
Previously, BAPS Charities also hosted a virtual seminar with Mr. Jonathan Lee, Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Toronto Raptors. During the session, Coach Lee drew upon personal examples to stress that every individual is capable of achieving whatever they set their minds to, as long as they are dedicated to it and willing to put in the effort. Coach Lee also spoke about and answered questions on the importance of goal setting and selfless service to our communities.
BAPS Charities continues to organize regular activities to engage youth and help them stay connected through virtual seminars and networking sessions on a variety of topics.
