According to the Canadian Immunization Guide, vaccines are a cornerstone of public health and their use has significantly contributed to the prevention and control of infectious diseases in Canada and internationally. Immunization is one of the most important accomplishments in public health that has, over the past 50 years, led to the elimination, containment and control of diseases that were once very common in Canada.
Yet many individuals are not vaccinated as recommended, leaving them needlessly vulnerable to illness and long term suffering. To bring awareness on this topic, BAPS Charities organized a Health Awareness Lecture in Scarborough, Ontario on November 11, 2017. Charan Thakkar explained the need to be vaccinated and the recommended immunization schedule for children and adults.
