On July 14, 2024, BAPS Charities hosted its annual “In The Joy Of Others: Walk-Run” in Brandon, Manitoba. The event supported the critical missions of three beneficiaries: the William Osler Health System Foundation, the CNIB Foundation, and the local Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation.
The walk brought together over 225 community members, including notable figures such as Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament; Wayne Balcaen, Member of the Legislative Assembly; Mayor Jeff Fawcett of Brandon; and Jo-Anne Lewis, Executive Director at the BRHC Foundation. Together, participants raised awareness and funds for health initiatives and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities, engaging a wide range of participants from youth to seniors.
The William Osler Health System is one of the largest community healthcare systems in the country, encompassing three hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
The CNIB Foundation, formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a non-profit organization that provides innovative programs and advocacy for those affected by blindness.
The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation focuses on raising funds to support healthcare needs in the region, helping finance various community projects and equipment purchases for the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
This event not only encouraged a healthier lifestyle but also highlighted the significant impact that collective community efforts can have in meeting local healthcare needs and challenges.
