BAPS Charities in Sydney recently donated $10,000 to Hawkesbury Helping Hands, a Western Sydney-based not-for-profit organisation.
The donation was raised from the “In the Joy of Other: Walk or Run” event held at Fagan Park in Galston on Sunday, 23 April 2023.
Over 800 people participated in the Walkathon event, with the youngest registered participant being 3 and the oldest being 80.
The event showcased the power of unity in making a difference, with the community coming together to make every step count for good.
Hawkesbury Helping Hands offers a range of programs, including breakfast clubs, school lunches, homeless services, and community meals. The organisation played a crucial role in providing disaster relief during recent natural calamities in New South Wales, such as the 2019 bushfires and the major flood event in 2022.
BAPS Charities first partnered with Hawkesbury Helping Hands in 2022 by donating 50 blankets for distribution to those in need.
Co-founder of Hawkesbury Helping Hands, Linda Strickland, expressed her gratitude for the recent donation.
She said: “Being an unfunded and a community-supported charity, this donation will go a long way in helping us, help others. We can not thank BAPS Charities enough.”
