On April 13, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Sugar Land, TX, a suburb of Houston, TX, for the 25th anniversary of its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of several charities, including the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Greater Houston, and its mission to provide advocacy, education, support, and public awareness to individuals and families affected by mental illness.
With nearly 2,300 participants, the event welcomed individuals of all ages, including Sugar Land Mayor Joe Zimmerman and several city council members, who joined in solidarity for the cause. Mayor Zimmerman remarked, “Your community makes a real difference in Sugar Land. It’s important what you do for our community, and it’s important how you’ve been involved in our community. I want to congratulate you on your 25th anniversary.”
This BAPS Charities Walk-Run is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations. For over 20 years, BAPS Charities has organized more than 1,000 walks, making a meaningful impact in communities by supporting important causes and promoting a spirit of service and unity.
