Food insecurity remains a critical issue in West Fresno, where over 30% of households struggle to access enough nutritious food for their families. This crisis disproportionately affects children and seniors, leading to far-reaching consequences on health, education, and overall well-being. Recent statistics underscore the urgent need for intervention, highlighting the importance of strong community collaboration and sustained efforts.
Recognizing this pressing concern, BAPS Charities-Fresno launched its first annual canned food drive in November and December 2024. This initiative aims to provide immediate relief to families in need while raising awareness about food insecurity in the region.
In collaboration with the City of Fresno’s Asian Community Liaison, Harjinder Saini, BAPS Charities-Fresno partnered with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, led by Pastor B.T. Lewis Sr., a vital institution supporting the community. Pastor Lewis expressed deep gratitude for BAPS Charities’ generous contribution, emphasizing how it will help struggling families during these challenging times.
This initiative reflects BAPS Charities’ ongoing commitment—both locally and across North America—to fostering unity and compassion through action. While food insecurity remains a significant challenge, this effort underscores BAPS Charities’ dedication to making a meaningful and lasting impact on families throughout West Fresno.
