BAPS Charities organised a national 5-a-side football tournament for the over 35s, the Keshav Cup, on Saturday 15 June 2024 at Powerleague Barnet in London.
15 teams and over 100 participants from local communities from across the UK played with tremendous community spirit. There was great camaraderie both on and off the pitch!
The tournament began with the group matches. There was plenty of fast-paced football on the pitches. The top two teams from each group progressed to the Keshav Cup, with the third- and fourth-placed teams being entered into the Samp Cup.
The final of the Samp Cup between Barnet and Chigwell was intense. There was some excellent goalkeeping from the oldest player of the tournament! His skill helped Barnet to take home the Samp Cup!
The much-awaited final of the Keshav Cup was contested between two very strong teams – Chigwell xG vs Watford United. Yet another chance was presented to Chigwell to take home a cup. This time their efforts came to fruition! The match ended with a 2-0 win to Chigwell xG!
The popular event encouraged exercise for those leading busy lifestyles and helped to enhance community relations between adults from various towns and cities around the country.
