In the heart of the nation’s capital, BAPS Charities organized the In The Joy of Others Walk-Run on June 18, 2022, where nearly 400 participants came together to raise funds for the Susan G Komen Foundation and their efforts to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research. Additionally, out of the spirit of giving back to the local community, the Walk fundraiser also supported the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department and Martin Luther King Jr Middle School.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S. and around the world. Across all walks of life, women and even men are affected by breast cancer directly or indirectly. Since its inception, Susan G Komen has invested more than $2.9 billion in research, community health outreach, advocacy, and programs in over 60 countries.
“This is very important work [BAPS Charities] is doing,” said Keith Sydnor, Councilmember of the City of Laurel. “On behalf of Mayor Craig Moe and the City Council of Laurel, thank you all for your support for MLK Middle School, Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department, and also breast cancer.”
Walkers & runners were connected through their shared goal of supporting their local community and supporting the message of “In the Joy of Others.”
